Ann Demeulemeester
Ann Demeulemeester defines fashion as "a form of communication". With that ethereal aspect that truly seems straight out of a Flemish painting, the designer has been creating her own codes since 1981, the year in which she graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Art. Inspired by close friend Patti Smith, Demeulemeester's dresses are perfectly cut in strong, clean styles. Inspired by menswear, its look is layered and slouched while monochromatic colors are seen on simple silhouettes. Aged fabrics are combined in an unusual way to create a wonderful spontaneous look that emphasizes practicality.
