Patou
In 1914 Jean Patou founded the Maison that bore his name. The young designer wanted to free women from the slavery of overly constrictive clothing: he marketed dresses without corsets, shortened skirts and launched a sports line to wear in the city. In the 1980s, during his tenure at Jean Patou, Christian Lacroix breathed new life into the brand: he dared with all combinations, played with unexpected colour combinations and extravagant details.
In 1987, Maison Jean Patou ceased operations and Lacroix founded the eponymous fashion house within the LVMH group.
